This album sort of threw me for a loop. When I was asked to do the review of this album I was convinced that my Editor had the band name wrong because I had never heard of these guys.  While I am not a fan of all metal genres, I am a fan of most and am familiar with almost every metal band out there - so I thought.  The reason I was not familiar with these guys is because their last album was 25 FUCKING YEARS AGO!

Exumer is a 5-piece Thrash Metal band from Germany. They only released two albums before disbanding in 1989.  While they never achieved mainstream success, their two albums did well overseas and were often revered as cult-classics.  Their new album "Fire And Damnation" is sure to bring these guys back to where they were and no doubt even further.  Their new album is a classis example of Thrash Metal at its finest.

You can tell that this album was done by a band from a time when this genre was still being molded.  If it wasn't for the good sound quality I would have assumed it actually was from 25 years ago rather than the year 2012.  I must have listened to this album 5-6 times, end to end, while I was at work and it was definitely a boost.  Every song is pumping with speed and aggression, although the riffs are a little repetitive, they're certainly fast enough and catchy enough to make you bang your head until your neck snaps!

For those of you that are as unfamiliar with these guys as I was, my best description of them would be a mix between Slayer, Exodus and Overkill, need I say more?  "Fire And Damnation" will be released via Metal Blade Records on April 6th in Europe and April 10th in North America.  Tracks to check to out are "Fire And Damnation", "I Dare You" and "Fallen Saint".  Hopefully the U.S. will be fortunate enough to have these guys tour over here.

We'll be following this story and will report on any tour date announcements that may be released. When they make it to the Tri-State area, Tri-State Rock will be on hand to give you all the details! Stay tuned!
