Tri-State Rock - Latest Updates

It's been nearly 42 years since the rock world lost Jimi Hendrix. Now, it seems, the guitar god will be resurrected.  After lingering in the rumor mill for years, "All is by My Side" a biopic chronicling the meteoric rise of Hendrix is officially in the works, according to the Irish Film and Television Network.

Yes you read that correctly Tom Cruise (as in Top Gun Tom Cruise) will be belting out some classic 80's rock tunes in the big screen adaptation of the hit broadway musical Rock of Ages. Cruise lends his voice to classics like Paradise City by Guns N' Roses, Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leopard, and Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi to name a few (full soundtrack listing below). 

Tom cruise plays a fictional rock icon by the name of Stacee Jaxx. Director Adam Shankman said of Cruise's performance, "It's a brilliant mash up, it seems of, Axl Rose, Keith Richards, and Jim Morrison." Cruise will be joined by an ensemble cast of stars from stage and screen including Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, and former WWE Superstar Kevin Nash.

SoCal punk veterans The Offspring have just announced the release of their new album Days Go By, via Sony. Although no official release date has been set sources say fans can expect the album to drop early this summer. Days Go By is the bands ninth studio album, and their first album since 2008's Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. 

Maynard James Keenan's side project Puscifer has announced summer tour dates. Following their appearance at Bonnaroo this year the band will embark on a three week trek throughout the states, in continued support their sophomore release Conditions of my Parole. The tour kicks off on June 9, at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. For those in the tri-state area Pusicfer will play the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ on June 16. They're officially rock royalty. The Red Hot Chili Peppers we're inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame on April 14, and will be releasing a cover album to commemorate their induction. The six song EP titled "We Salute You" is the band's way of paying homage to the hall of famers including the Ramones, David Bowie, and Iggy and the Stooges. The album is set for release on May 1, via Warner Bros. Records.
