Late this afternoon, Periphery teased via their official Facebook page that they’d be making an album-related announcement at 7pm EST today. 7pm EST has since come and gone and we’re still waiting anxiously to see what the group has to offer.

Their sophomore record, the follow up to Periphery’s 2010’s self-titled debut, is garnering an exceptional amount of buzz after the recent announcement that Dream Theater’s John Petrucci would be laying down some guest licks boosted the already enormous hype-machine around the album. It’s not every day that a band achieves such a high level of success on their debut album that they’re able to get such a cameo and everyone should take note.

While the band had early mentioned an “album related announcement”, around 9pm EST a post was made asking fans to please be patient as there had been some technical difficulties. This basically revealed that whatever was coming would probably be some new music off Periphery II, which is now just more than a month away from seeing its July 3 release.

Around 9:35pm EST the band was finally able to post what fans had been waiting for, which turned out to be a pretty incredible album promo which immediately psyched me up. Check out the video at the link below and see for yourself! When you're done, click here to pre-order the record!

You'll be able to catch Periphery on select dates of the 2012 Summer Slaughter Tour, which will be hitting both the Starland Ballroom and Irving Plaza locally. We'll have full coverage of the tour, so stay tuned.
