This year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is set to be one of the summer’s biggest concert events.  With headliners Anthrax, Motorhead, Slayer and the one and only Slipknot, it seems like this summer festival is any metal head’s wet dream.

The Mayhem Fest is offering three different stages, the Main Stage, Jagermeister Stage and the Sumerian Records Stage, with bands that produce heart-pounding, face melting heavy metal.  Besides the aforementioned headliners other acts include Anthrax, Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying, White Chapel, High on Fire, Upon a Burning Body, I, The Breather, Dirtfedd and more! Tickets for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival go on sale Friday April 6 and can be purchased here.

Over the next 5 weeks I’ll be sharing the top 5 reasons you should be totally excited for this years Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival:

5. VIP Packages available when tickets go on sale.

(Check out that article here)

4. Motorhead and the Sumerian Records Stage bringing unique opportunity to musicians

(Check out last week's article for the full scoop)

3. Slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayer.

Slayer has been a staple of the heavy metal scene since 1981.  For over 30 years they’ve been making music, touring, and ripping fans ears to shreds with their unique style of thrash metal.  Even if you don’t listen to Slayer, if you like metal you definitely listen to many bands that have been inspired by them.

This summer at the 2012 Rockstar Enery Drink Mayhem Festival you have the opportunity to see these living music legends.  Although many fans have had the opportunity to see Slayer last year at Big 4, seeing them at the Mayhem Fest this summer will be a totally different experience.  There’s just something about a summer festival that creates a completely different energy that is apparent at every stop on the tour.   Slayer toured with the Mayhem Festival three years ago in 2009, but the band is excited to have the chance to join the festival line up once again.

Lead vocalist and bassist Tom Araya has expressed this sentiment in many interviews about the tour.  He stated, “Mayhem 2012 might just be the last and greatest metal festival before the world ends!! So wreak havoc and go out in style!!”

Guitarist Kerry King comments “ We can't wait to get rolling on Mayhem 2012! Been 3 years since we played it last, and it's gonna be brutal!!! You can't go wrong with Slayer and Slipknot, pure fucking mayhem!!!!"

King is one hundred percent correct.  Co-headliners Slayer and Slipknot are going to brutally galavant across the United States this summer entertaining fans with their unique brands of heavy metal.
