This year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is set to be one of the summer’s biggest concert events.  With headliners Anthrax, Motorhead, Slayer, and the one and only Slipknot, it seems like this summer festival is any metal head’s wet dream.

The Mayhem Fest is offering three different stages, the Main Stage, Jagermeister Stage and the Sumerian Records Stage, with bands that produce heart-pounding, face melting heavy metal.  Besides the aforementioned headliners other acts include Anthrax, Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying, Whitechapel, High on Fire, Upon a Burning Body, I, The Breather, Dirtfedd and more! Tickets for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival went on sale on Friday April 6 and can be purchased here.  Check out the Festival’s website for other details and epic contest opportunities to win VIP tickets and more!

Over the past 5 weeks I’ve be sharing the top 5 reasons you should be totally excited for this years Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.  Here’s a recap:

5 VIP Packages on Sale the Same Day as Tickets

4 Motorhead and the Sumerian Records Stage

3 Slaaaaaaaaaaayerr

2 The Experience

And the final reason why everyone should be quivering in anticipation for this summer’s Mayhem Festival is:

1 SLIPKNOT

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past ten years, you must be at least a little familiar with the truly unique sound that is Slipknot.  The nine-member band from Des Moine, Iowa have been a force to be reckoned with in the Heavy Metal scene since 1995.  Slipknot has some of the most loyal and die-hard fans in the music industry, which they have lovingly, call Maggots.  The band has unfortunately seen its share of controversies in the past few years including the untimely death of founding member Paul Gray in 2010.

With the future of Slipknot being questionable at best, many fans breathed a huge sigh of relief when the band officially announced that they would be joining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival co-headlining with Slayer.  For many of the band’s loyal Maggots it solidified at least one more energetic experience in their pit.

A Slipknot concert is a truly unique concert experience.  I often describe Slipknot as a band that doesn’t sound like anything else.  With a nine-piece band that includes three percussionists and a d-j, the energy alone that the band brings to their performance is enough to blow any fan away.  Whether it’s Jim Root’s guitar screeches, Joey Jordison’s pounding drumbeats or Corey Taylor’s haunting vocals or contagious screams, Slipknot has a sound that makes you want to grab your balls and scream.

If you miss Slipknot this summer on the Mayhem Festival you may regret it later.  Not only will their performance be epic, but it could be your last opportunity to see them with this line-up.
