Disney is giving "The Lone Ranger" the modern-day interpretation treatment, with the film starring Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger is slated for a May 2013 release.  Pirates Of The Caribbean alumnus Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer team up again to take on the role of Director and Producer, respectively.

Today's news though, deals with the film's score. It seems that Verbinski himself came up with the idea to have Jack White score the film and initiated the contact. White accepted, naturally, and this will mark his first time scoring an entire film, having previously contributed to a few soundtracks, Cold Mountain being one of them.

Johnny Depp has been keeping busy lately, it seems. Not only does he have Dark Shadows coming out and The Lone Ranger in the works, but he has recently both written and performed live on guitar with Marilyn Manson. The strangely appropriate duo recorded an original cover of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain", which can be heard here.

We'll have more on the soundtrack, including previews and more, as it becomes available. Keep it locked to www.tri-staterock.com for more on this and all things ROCK!
