Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson Record Ironic Cover
MTV News reports that actor Johnny Depp and Avant-garde rocker Marilyn Manson have teamed up to record a cover of Carly Simon’s 1972 hit “You're So Vain.” The artistic duo recorded the song for Manson’s upcoming eighth studio album, “Born Villain,” which is due out on May 1. During the collaboration Depp played the drums and the guitar while Manson recorded the vocals in his unique style.
During an interview with MTV News Marilyn Manson stated that he and Depp chose “a cover of a song which we thought was ironic for each other.” He also shared, “It’s a bonus track on my new record and the video will probably be us looking at each other in a mirror.”
Marilyn Manson’s new single, “No Reflection,” was released on March 7 and can be heard here.
Marilyn Manson’s last video collaboration was also seemingly random, with actor Shia Lebouf serving as director of the music video/short film. The video for “Born Villain” can be viewed here.
The original version of “You're So Vain” by Carly Simon can be viewed here.
