When Cannibal Corpse and Between The Buried And Me were announced as the top two billed bands on the 2012 iteration of the Summer Slaughter Tour, metalheads nationwide rejoiced.

When more band announcements continued to gradually trickle out, including the likes of The Faceless, Periphery, Veil of Maya, Job For A Cowboy, Goatwhore, Exhumed, The Contortionist (East Coast Only) and more - it began to seem to damn god to even be true.

This morning, though, minds were further blown with the preliminary announcement of venues and dates. While the Festival itself has not yet put out a press release revealing the information at the time of this article being published, information has begun to leak out from various venues and outlets. The following dates are currently unconfirmed, but expected to be later on today:

Locally speaking, with the Starland Ballroom in NJ as an option on 8/7 and Irving Plaza in NYC on 8/8, it seems to me that these venues are as small as they can possibly be to contain such a high intensity show. We're in for a treat, folks. That, coupled with the 2012 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival being in town the same week means that we're in for one hell of a METAL summer.
