Today the music world mourns the loss of not only a great musician, but a wonderfully talented ambassador to all music. We say farewell to Adam Yauch (more commonly known as the great MCA). Though the cause of death is not confirmed at this time, MCA was diagnosed and treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node and underwent surgery and radiation therapy back in 2009. He also became a vegan under advisement of his Tibetan doctors. (Watch the announcement below)

The social media world is currently buzzing with great lamentation over this sudden loss. Musicians, media moguls, and fans from all over the world have been expressing their condolences and thanks for the loss of MCA and to the brilliant tunes he and the BEASTIE BOYS gave us all throughout the years respectively.

New and old, THE BEASTIE BOYS connected people from all genres and ages. With a uniquely original blend of rock, and hip-hop, the BEASTIE BOYS were pioneers to their own genre, paving the way for the likes of P.O.D, LIMP BIZKIT, Hed P.E., and many more.

I would usually be prone to giving you a brief biography of who the man was, but in all honesty, I feel winded at this loss, as do many of us from Tri-State Rock. He was a pivotal member of a wonderful group that provided us urban youth kids with that hip-hop style and mixed it with distorted guitars and funky bass grooves. They made us laugh with their awesomely ridiculous videos, made us think with words of wisdom, and made us fight. FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS…to do whatever the fuck we wanted. R.I.P. MCA
