The Contortionist have released a new music video today for "Causality" off their new record, "Intrinsic" which hits stores tomorrow. The much anticipated album has received rave reviews from both critics and fans alike and is expected to hold its ground as one of the most celebrated progressive metal releases of the year.

When we spoke to Dan Briggs, bassist of North Carolina progressive-metal masters Between The Buried And Me, about his new jazz-fusion side project "Trioscapes" in March - it was remarkably difficult NOT to ask a barrage of questions about the new BTBAM record. At the time, all that we were able to get out of Briggs was that we could expect a release date that would fall sometime around the group’s European tour, which allowed us to deduce that we’d be looking at yet another October release.

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root reunited with the band on Friday, July 13 at the Tampa, Florida stop of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival.  Root missed several dates of the tour due to a burst appendix, that could have potentially been life threatening. A statement issued by the rest of the group said that Root had been seriously ill for the past few weeks, before he discovered that he had a major appendicitis, and would have to miss several tour dates to recover.

Red Hot Chili Peppers will be unveiling 18 unreleased songs from the “I’m With You” sessions. In order to keep up with today’s music industry, the songs will be released in two different formats. There will be a digital release and a set of nine separate 7-inch vinyl records containing two songs on each. The vinyl records will be released in a progression from this August to early 2013 and will feature the art of Kelsey Brookes, an artist known for his intricate and brightly colored works.
