Got nothing to do this Saturday night?  Might I suggest to you a healthy serving of METAL? VH1 Classic’s “THAT METAL SHOW” airs a new episode Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11p.m. Already in their 10th season, “THAT METAL SHOW” has had a veteran line up of guest hosts since 2008. Some of the guests over the years have included: RUSH, DREAM THEATER, Vinnie Paul (PANTERA), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Chris Jericho (WWE SUPERSTAR/FOZZY), and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR). Most summer concert festivals have used promotional videos on their websites to promote their upcoming events.  These videos usually feature some of the bands that are on the bill in a good, yet predictable, mash-up that is intended to make the concert-goer excited for the event.  At this point it’s concert-marketing protocol.  The 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, however, has done something much different. 

The video is on the front page of the concert’s website, www.rockstarmayhemfest.com, and can be seen immediately upon arriving on the page.  I naively stumbled upon this gem while intending to research a different story.

Heavy Metal legends Prong will be releasing their 8th studio album, "Carved into Stone", on April 24th through Long Branch Records and produced by Steve Evetts.  This will be their debut album with Long Branch and their first album since their last studio release "Power of the Damager" in 2007.

On March 20th Prong streamed the world premiere of the opening track entitled "Eternal Heat". If this single is any kind of reflection of what to expect on the rest of the album then, metal heads, you're in for a treat.  Loud, hard and fast, thrash metal all the way, it has a certain Anthrax feel to it.  Prong has been a part of the metal scene since 1986 and has been kicking ass ever since, influencing bands like Korn and Nine Inch Nails.  Frontman and native New Yorker, Tommy Victor recruited bassist Tony Campos of Static-X and drummer Alexei Rodriguez of Trial and 3 Inches of Blood three years ago for touring, opening up for Soulfly on two tours and later for Fear Factory and kept them on for this album and follow up tour.  Prong will be hitting the road the next couple months so be sure to check them out - I know I will!
