North Carolina prog-metal legends-in-the-making Between The Buried And Me have released the video for "Astral Body" off their highly-anticipated new LP, "The Parallax II: Future Sequence", this morning via AlternativePress. Check it out by following this link.

The video keeps with the space-related imagery that the record and its EP predecessor have been building upon and gives a unique insight into the progressing storyline that carries through both records. Likely to be the shortest BTBAM video you'll ever see, "Astral Body" defiantly crams so much rich imagery that by the time you watch it 5 times to get a solid grasp on the concept, you'll have spent as much time with it as you would most 'regular' length BTBAM tracks.

When we spoke to Dan Briggs, bassist of North Carolina progressive-metal masters Between The Buried And Me, about his new jazz-fusion side project "Trioscapes" in March - it was remarkably difficult NOT to ask a barrage of questions about the new BTBAM record. At the time, all that we were able to get out of Briggs was that we could expect a release date that would fall sometime around the group’s European tour, which allowed us to deduce that we’d be looking at yet another October release.

Between the Buried and Me fans have a lot to be excited about lately.  The progressive metal band is scheduled to tour the US this summer providing direct support to Cannibal Corpse on the Summer Slaughter Tour.  The band has also been busy writing their new album, which hasn’t been titled yet (but may be "Parallax 2" or something like it), in their home state of North Carolina.  And now the globally celebrated innovators will return to Europe in October 2012 in support of their new album.

Metal fans have it great. No one tells you what to like, how to act, how to dress, or what is trendy for the week. Nope, it’s just you, the music, and the T-shirt. As far back as anybody can remember it’s always been easy to recognize a fellow metalhead by the shirt. One can be standing in line at a local fast food joint in the south Bronx when the etchings of PANTERA catch your eye from across the room. It took all but a few seconds to make an ally (just in case shit goes down), and to remember to blast “Cemetery Gates” on the drive home.

During a recent interview with Tri-State Rock, Dan Briggs (Between The Buried And Me) and Walter Fancourt of the new jazz-fusion outfit Trioscapes detailed their Metal Blade Records debut album, played the music that inspired them while writing the record and fielded a barrage of questions from the fans.

The debut record, entitled "Separate Realities", is due out on May 8 in North America. While two tracks, "Blast Off" and "Wazzlejazzlebof" have been available to stream via the band's official Facebook page, it was revealed that more samples are on the way in preparation of the release.

Hailing from Glasgow, UK, Cerebral Bore have been crowned the champions of the 2012 Summer Slaughter Tour opening slot contest. Formed in 2006, the band was signed to Earache Records in 2010 and has seen marked success in the metal/death scene ever since. Their label debut was released in 2011 and attaining the opening slot on this years hottest summer metal festival is likely to work wonders for the size of their fanbase.

Cerebral Bore was up against some tough competition, including Battlecross, Pathology, Vildhjarta & several more. Providing support to metal giants Cannibal Corpse and prog.-metal masterminds Between The Buried And Me is an opportunity like none other for an emerging metal band - let's hope they don't fuck it up

2012 Summer Slaughter Tour shaping up to be the metal show to see this summer

The Summer Slaughter Tour has never been one to disappoint. With alumnus ranging from The Faceless and Born Of Osiris to The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel & many more, the tour has constantly provided fans with some of the best (and heaviest) metal out there. With much of the 2012 lineup recently announced, fans may rejoice once again because the roster is stacked

For the summer festivals 6th anniversary, some heavy hitters are coming out to tear your city to pieces. You're going to want to lace those boots up tight and get ready for a hell of a ride. As if headliners Cannibal Corpse weren't brutal enough, the sonic onslaught that co-headliners Between The Buried And Me delivers is what droves of fans typically pay full-price for and pack into sold-out shows for. Add to the equation Goatwhore, Exhumed, The Faceless, Periphery, Veil of Maya & Job For A Cowboy and I'm not sure whether to be excited to giddyness or frightened to death at what is going to transpire in the yet-to-be-determined Tri-State area venue in a few months.

A few weeks ago, Dan Briggs of Between The Buried And Me called into Tri-State Rock to talk about both the BTBAM writing session, as well as his exciting new jazz fusion/progressive side project known as Trioscapes, the archive of which can be viewed here. Consisting of Dan Briggs on bass, Walter Fancourt on Saxophone and flute & Matt Lynch on drums, Trioscapes is a fury of musicianship that will both perplex and satisfy simultaneously.

Currently, only two tracks are available from the instrumental trio, entitled "Blast Off" and "Wazzlejazzlebof", both of which are remarkably complex and fun. However, it seems that those fans out there who have been pining for more music from the North Carolina three-piece won't have to wait much longer. In fact, a somewhat cryptic recent post via the group's official Facebook account seems to be indicating that Monday may be the day that eager appetites are slaked:
