Capelle talks Crooked Deluxe, Documentary and World Domination in New Interview
After being introduced to Capelle and their music on Tuesday night, I was doubly blessed with an opportunity for an interview. On Wednesday morning, I had the chance to sit with the band to speak about their latest projects and what the future of Capelle looks like.
Capelle, headed by Nic Capelle, is a mish mash of incredibly gifted musicians chosen for their abilities and talents that can bring Nic’s music alive. Although a constant change in the lineup may confuse fans, Nic is doing a hell of a job picking his favorites to bring along on new ventures and projects. This particular lineup of Capelle includes gifted Richard Taylor on bass, passionate Gabe Raham on drums, and brilliant Fotis Vayenas on guitar.
TSR: During your first time in America, you made a documentary. What inspired you to do so and what did you want to convey with the finished product?
Nic: “We have a story that we really want to tell people and a documentary is a great way of exposing a band and not everyone is fortunate to have the ability to do it. There are also a lot of documentaries out there that bands do that are more like sound bytes and video bytes of their tour. We wanted to make a proper documentary that fully delved into the life of this band. Going to America for the first time and being here for 2 and half months felt like the perfect place to do it because its uncharted territory. We don’t know what to expect and we captured something quite innocent and extraordinary.“
